Melissa Craig

Academic Personnel and HR Analyst

Biography

Melissa is so excited to be joining the UCSD family in the Theatre and Dance Department. She is originally from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and attended the historically significant high school, T.C. Williams (now named Alexandria City HS) in Alexandria, VA where the movie, Remember the Titans was based on and filmed. With her love of theatre and acting, Melissa attended a small liberal arts school where she received her BFA. While performing in local community theatre and independent film projects with friends, including such movies as Ninjas vs. Zombies and Ninjas vs. Vampires, Melissa decided to pursue a new career in counseling, stemming from her love and fascination of people and the human psyche. Melissa relocated to San Diego where she attended the University of San Diego and received her MA in Counseling with a specialization in School Counseling. Before transitioning into higher education, Melissa was a School Counselor in the CA public schools for approximately 6.5 years. Recognizing her new found interest in higher education and HR, Melissa worked at such places as San Diego Christian College before joining UCSD. In Melissa's spare time, you can find her running in Mission Bay or anywhere along the coast with West Coast Road Runners (her running group), actively participating in full and half marathons, watching movies, hanging and traveling with her husband and spoiling the crap out of her fury baby, Charlie the pug.
