Joan and Irwin Jacobs Theatre District

UC San Diego's Theatre and Dance facilities are among the best in the country.

The large theatre spaces of the Mandell Weiss Center for the Performing Arts at Joan and Irwin Jacobs Theatre District are shared with the La Jolla Playhouse. In addition to those spaces, the department boasts two smaller performance venues: the Arthur Wagner Theatre and Dance Studio 3. The Arthur Wagner Theatre is housed in Galbraith Hall, home to the Department of Theatre & Dance. This beautiful building houses all of our classes, faculty & grad student offices, a computer lab, design studios, and a lighting lab along with our a studio theatre—four floors of theatre training.

You can find Dance Studio 3 in the Molli and Arthur Wagner Dance Building, an architectural treasure with three studio spaces for movement and dance with sprung floors, natural lighting, and spacious shower/locker rooms. The department also worked with the La Jolla Playhouse to build a black box theatre, the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre, with shop facilities and offices that are shared by both organizations.
