Second-year MFA Sound Design Student

Biography

Padra Crisafulli [they/them] is a second-year MFA candidate in sound design, a director, and a New Jersey-Pennsylvanian. They hold a BFA in Directing from Carnegie Mellon University, working in plays, operas, podcasts, art installations, and games. Their personal creative work ranges across mediums, utilizing audio samples to explore themes of memory, perception, and the interplay of persona and anonymity.

Sound work includes: One Day Down (SheNYC @ the Kelly Strayhorn Theatre), The Reporter's Mixtape with William Lowe (prod. Farai Chideya @ The Armory), and a series of beat tapes centered on sleep under the name 'neutruhl' (Soundcloud @ Padra's Room). They also served as the audio manager and editor for WICC: Just Add Water, a monthly discussion podcast on environmental issues by the Water Insecurity Correction Coalition.

Directing work includes: Ubu Roi (The Common Design Project @ Prague Quaddrennial 2019), PETROV: A Mono-Opera (Carnegie Mellon University @ National Museum of Serbia), Frozen Fluid: A Gender-Nonconforming Creation Myth (Online @ the National Women’s Theatre Festival), and a paper production of Gluck's Orphée et Eurydice (Opera America). They have also assisted on productions such as Happy Talk (The New Group) and Suicide Forest (The Bushwick-Starr with Ma-Yi Theater Company).
