Studio Shakes: Julius Caesar

Feb 27 - Mar 7 | Arthur Wagner Theatre

By William Shakespeare | Directed by Kieran Beccia

About the Show

Rome is about to have a new leader, but when Brutus and a group of senators take violent action to prevent what they view as an impending dictatorship, the state is fractured and their home is plunged into civil war. This 16th century drama serves as a startling parallel to the current political climate in the U.S. and by applying a contemporary (and unabashedly queer) lens to this piece I want to poke at the question: when liberation for one group is viewed as tyranny by another can democracy survive?
