Biography
Assata is a third-year MFA Acting candidate from Atlanta, GA. She found the acting bug early, working under award-winning director Woodie King Jr. as Maretha in August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson (Tennessee Repertory Theatre). Assata holds a BA in Theatre from Spelman College. SC credits: Toulou in Hoodoo Love, Vera in Seven Guitars, Jeanie in Fat Pig, and Asia in Gee’s Bend. Regional credits: Jane Seymour in Anne Boleyn (Synchronicity) and “Baby” Dauvergne in Preparations (Alabama Shakespeare Festival). Assata has studied at New York’s The American Theatre Wing and Atlanta’s True Colors Theatre and The Alliance Theatre.
