Academic Advising

Important NoteCurrent UC San Diego students should contact advising through the Virtual Advising Center (VAC). No academic advising is conducted through email for current students. Prospective students, please email: tdadvising@ucsd.edu

 

Virtual Advising Appointments 

Please schedule your Virtual Advising Appointments using the Advising SchedulerTo ensure the safety of all involved, all advising will be conducted virtually. To schedule a meeting, students need to go to the Advising Scheduler and select an available slot:

  • Monday: 1:30P - 2:30P
  • Wednesday: 10:00A - 12:00P and 1:30P - 3:00P
  • Thursday : 10:00A - 12:00P and 1:30P - 3:00P
  • Friday: 10:00A - 12:00P

*Please note there will not be advising appointments available from December 23rd - January 2nd. 

We only allow a 5-minute grace period for tardiness. Your appointment will be canceled and you will need to reschedule if you are more than 5-minutes late for a meeting.

Please note, that Virtual Advising Appointments are dedicated to assisting students with the following:

  • Double Major Petitions
  • Quarter by Quarter Plans
  • Degree Audit Checks
  • Degree Planning and Major Concerns

To ensure that you make the best out of your time, come prepared with courses that you are interested in and all forms completed.

 

Virtual Walk-Ins

 Virtual Walk-Ins are dedicated to questions that can be easily discussed within several minutes. To ensure the safety of all involved, all advising will be conducted virtually. 

  • Tuesday: 1:15P - 2:15P
    • There will not be virtual walk-in advising held on January 31st. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Virtual Advising Center (VAC) – 2-3 Business days after submission

EASy Request – 5 Business days after submission

Declaring a Minor – 5 Business days after submission

Undergraduate Student Petition – 2 Business days after submission. It can take up to a business week to receive a decision. 

Double Major – You will receive a decision 5 Business days after submission.  

SAP and Unit Limit Extension – 2-5 Business days after submission.
