Valeria Ruiz

Hi there! I’m Valeria Ruiz (they/she/elle/ella) and I’m a fourth year double majoring in Dance and Sociology. This is my third year as a BA rep and I’m happy to serve the department in any way I can.

I focus mainly on latin dance styles such as salsa and bachata and contemporary dance styles. I also have some experience in ballet, musical theatre dance, modern, hip hop and apparatus work. In the department, I have participated in coordinating weekly Connection Jams, the 2023 Little Amal project in San Ysidro, and 2024/2025’s Winterworks productions.

When I’m not in the studio I can be found at the beach, at the movies, exploring different San Diego communities, or grabbing a sweet treat with a friend :)

Some on campus organizations that I am involved in are MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlán), CASA (Central American Students Association) and Rooted at UC San Diego. Feel free to reach out with any questions or just to chat!
