The Department of Theatre & Dance at UC SAN DIEGO (http://theatre.ucsd.edu), seeks a highly experienced theatre artist in Scenic Design at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, beginning Fall 2015. The successful candidate will serve as a core member of a professional design training program and is expected to participate in all facets of the department life, including mentorship and supervision of MFA designersí production work, teaching of graduate and undergraduate courses, recruitment, curricular planning within the design area and participation in discussions of departmental production seasons. The appointee will be expected to bring continuing innovation to the teaching of design. For appointment and advancement at UC San Diego in the professorial series, faculty must continually and effectively engage in research and/or creative activity of high quality and significance.
Requirements include: MFA or equivalent professional experience; extensive history of productions at the national or international level; evidence of teaching excellence; continuing creative activities. Applicants with considerable professional experience who have also taught in academic or professional settings are strongly preferred, though other models will be considered. The ideal candidate will also have strong demonstrated accomplishments or potential in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity.
