MICHAEL FRANCIS (Production Manager) Michael has been around the department since 2000 and became the Production Manager in 2006. He graduated from Truman State University, with background in Technical Direction. He has worked as a technical director in regional theatres, small theatres, and other universities. He is a proud/tired father of three and happily married to his wife Sarah since 1999.

LINDA DiLEO (Academic Affairs Officer/ Assistant to the Chair). Linda was born on a U.S. Navy Base in the Philippines and at age 4 her family was transferred to San Diego. Growing up in San Diego, she considers herself a native San Diegan. In her early career years, she worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with the U. S. Air Force Public Affairs Office - where she worked with the movie industry as a casting assistant for a TV movie, the Agency for International Development in the U.S. Embassy, Manila and an international publishing company. Being a military wife, she traveled throughout Asia and finally settled back in San Diego. Before coming to Theatre and Dance, her prior 14 years at UCSD were with the School of Medicine in the Dept of Psychiatry and Radiology. Linda’s interests are dancing “hula” and music, “ukulele”, in addition to traveling.

MICHAEL FULLERTON (Network Systems Administrator) Michael was born and raised on the East Coast to Canadian actor/singer parents. In the early 1990s, he moved to San Diego and has lived in California since. He has been married to his wife Lisa (whom he met in an improvisational acting class in San Diego) since 1999 and is the proud father of two cats. Michael comes to Theater and Dance from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, CA, where he managed the computer labs for the College of Science and Math. Prior to that, Michael was the Service Department Manager for a certified Apple repair center. He has also worked as a staging technician and in video production.

HEDI JAFARI (Financial Manager). Hedi has been with UCSD for more than ten years. He completed his BA in Business Administration at the University of Iowa and his MS in Economics in Sweden, where his wife finished her PhD in Medical Science. Hedi takes care of the department budget and all financial and HR matters.

LAURA JIMENEZ (Undergraduate Coordinator) Laura graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.A in Communications. During her college years she studied abroad in London, interned in Washington, D.C and for San Diego’s Assemblymember. She returned back to London to study at the University of Westminster and attained a M.A in Public Communications and Public Relations. She enjoys musicals and traveling, she has been to 14 states and 13 countries. Laura provides academic advising to undergraduates wanting to major and/or minor in the Theatre and Dance department.

MARK MALTBY (Chief Administrative Officer) Mark has been with the department since 1989. He was technical director for the department and the La Jolla Playhouse for his first four years, production manager for the Playhouse the next two years and was the departments' production manager from 1995 through the summer of 2004. He has been in his current position since July of 2004. Other technical theater experiences for Mark include being the technical designer for Light Magic at Disneyland, working in production at the Denver Center Theatre Company, Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts (Santa Maria, Solvang CA) and the Arizona Theatre Company (Tucson, Phoenix AZ). Mark is the proud father of Henry, 13 and Anna, 10.

LAURA MANNING (Assistant Production Manager/Facilities Manager) Laura is a native of New York who moved to San Diego in search of better weather. She was most recently a props artisan for the La Jolla Playhouse and has worked professionally in theatre for over ten years. Her experience in theatre has lead her all over the country, from the Manhattan Theatre Club, to the Children's Theatre Company, the Huntington Theatre, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Virginia Stage Company, The Old Globe, and San Diego Rep. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech with an MFA in theatre design and technology.

LEE MONTAÑO (Graduate Student Coordinator) Lee has been with UCSD for 17 years. He has served as the Undergraduate Program Coordinator in two departments and as the Financial Officer and Academic Personnel Officer in another at UC prior to working with Theatre and Dance. Lee is a voracious reader of science fiction and cares for a menagerie of five cockatiels, an aquarium of tropical fish and a large kitty cat. Lee is responsible in assisting with the admission process, assisting MFA's with the logistics of their thesis, distributing information from area heads to graduate student and coordinating TA/GSR assignments.

CAROLYN PASSENEAU (Promotions Director) joined the department in Fall 2000. Prior experience in university settings include: Program Development for UCI Extension in Business and Mgmt; R&D consultant for Washington International University; Regional Marketing Manager for Pepperdine University’s graduate executive programs; and, Administrative Developer for Antioch University’s Los Angeles campus launch. In addition, Carolyn served as senior writer and editorial consultant on the international NSF grant “The Mitigation of Natural Hazards”; and as R&D Consultant for private schools and companies internationally. Carolyn holds a double major in education administration and comparative literature from Antioch University, and did graduate studies in Pepperdine’s Executive MBA-International Program, as a member of the Gamma Group. Carolyn’s avocation is as a visual artist who has used the VUE method to transmit her love for art to all age groups as a docent at SDMA and SD Contemporary in La Jolla. She also volunteer teaches American English and Culture through the AESL Program at the International Center.
