  Jim Short
Third-year PhD Student

Education

MA in Theatre and Performance Studies, Washington University in St. Louis

Biography

Jim Short is a third-year PhD student from St. Charles, MO. He received his BA in Theatre Arts from Rhodes College (Memphis, TN) in 2008 where he developed a strong interest in physical theatre and the stylistic performance of Commedia dell’Arte, which he was fortunate to study at the Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy. Before returning to school and receiving his Masters in Theatre and Performance Studies from Washington University in St. Louis, Jim worked as a professional actor, director, and theatre educator for theatres and non-profits alike. While maintaining his original passion for commedia, Jim’s work for organizations such as the Lexington Children’s Theatre, Shrine Mont Camps, the National Theatre for Children, and Heifer Project International have expanded his areas of interests to include Theatre for Youth, Theatre for Social Change, and the cross-section of Performance and Cognitive Studies.
