Introducing UCNYC

TDHT 190 - The New York Theatre & Dance Scene
UC San Diego • Summer Session 1 (June 27 to July 30)

Performance in New York is peerless. This class immerses students in the New York experience, both as a current cultural capital and as a major influence throughout the history of American theater and dance. Study NY performance history and literature, and tour original sites of performance and inspiration.
Attend great performances accompanied by lively discussions with UC Professor Nadine George and guest speakers. Get backstage tours, meet important players across the theater and dance worlds, and learn how productions go from vision to reality.

The program includes tickets to performances and accommodations in the heart of the city. Possible performances and tours include Shakespeare in the Park, SummerStage, Urban Bush Women, Fun Home, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, On Your Feet, MOMA, NY Public Library for the Performing Arts, Elevator Repair Service, NY Philharmonic, and more. Final list tbd.

Any student interested in the arts should get to know New York first-hand, so come spend the summer in the city!
