Acting Admissions and Selection Process

Applicants must have or be about to receive a Bachelor's Degree (not necessarily in theatre) prior to applying for graduate admission. A 3.0 or better grade point average in the last two years of undergraduate or post-baccalaureate work is required. The GRE is NOT required for Acting applicants. Please note that due to the nature of our program, students may enter only in the fall quarter, and we DO NOT accept transfer credits from other programs.

Audition Tour

All applicants to the Acting program must audition. Every January and February, UCSD holds an Audition tour to see Acting applicants from around the country. For Fall 2007 admissions, the Audition tour dates are as follows:

San Diego, at UCSD
January 11, 2008

New York, at NYU
January 24, 25, 26, 27, 2008

Chicago, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago
Actor Auditions February 5, 6, 2008

San Francisco, at ACT
February 9 and 10, 2008

At the conclusion of the audition tour, there will be a final selection process. We will then immediately notify those actors we wish to admit into the Acting program.
